This is a condensed 6-day intensive format, running daily from 6:30AM – 9:30PM.

January Assignment: Honoring Planet Earth

Write a 2-page reflection on the following theme:

  • Ways to Honor Planet Earth through Yogic Practices

    • Explore how grounding practices reconnect body and mind to nature.

    • Suggest practical solutions for living as the change you want to see in the world.

    • Reflect on yogic ways to honor the Earth, self, and Mother Nature.

    • Discuss Ahimsa (Non-Violence) as it relates to environmental care, diet (e.g., vegetarianism), speech, and thought.

July Assignment: Mantra for World Peace

Practice & Write a 2-page reflection on:

  • Chanting Om Namo Narayana

    • Instructions:

      • Sit in a comfortable meditative posture (cross-legged or on a chair with a straight spine).

      • If available, use a japamala (prayer beads).

      • Chant Om Namo Narayana 108 times, focusing on sound vibration and intention.

    • Reflection focus:

      • Historical roots of the mantra (Tarasara Upanishad & Sama Veda).

      • Personal experience of the chanting practice.

      • How leading or practicing this mantra can inspire peace within yourself and the wider world.

About Your Facilitator

Tina Pashumati James – Former mountaineer and ski patroller turned senior yoga teacher, Tina brings decades of experience in Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Bhakti, and Nada Yoga. She is an advocate for eco-conscious living, plant-based diets, cancer recovery support, and mental health. Tina is an environmental and animal rights activist, blending yoga with activism and ceremony.

Assistant: Billy Prema - one of Tina’s brightest lights, has spent over 16 years under her guidance with thousands of hours of yoga training and immersion. Encouraged by Tina, she also studied with Manju Jois and Danny Paradise, traveling many times to India to deepen her practice alongside Tina to study at the source.

Billy has since opened her own school Vida Haus, here in Suffolk, rooted in the traditions of Shantiseva and Ashtanga. As Manju Jois says,  “freedom yoga & a stress-free shala". Billy carries this wisdom forward, creating a soulful, community-centered space

ABOUT TINA PASHUMATI JAMES

Tina Pashumati is based at the Loka Yoga School online in Whistler, and has been in Canada since 2004. She is a world-renowned yoga and integrated indigenous ceremonial Bhakti teacher, and is senior teacher in the Jivamukti method and authorized Ashtanga teacher by Manju Jois and shri K Pattabhi Jois. 
She created her own Shantiseva life programs to feature reconciliation with local indigenous Elders and incorporate the sacred ceremony into the lives of her students. 
She Facilitates her own Loka Life Teacher Trainings, and has taken many Shantiseva Certified Teachers through one-on-one apprenticeships working towards their 800 hour and 1000 hour certifications.
The 'Awake in the Wild' meditation online program is her signature program for mental health.
Pashumati is known for her vigorous Vinyasa sequencing, and her strong connection with the indigenous culture and their ceremonial teachings. She loves sharing philosophical teachings of yoga and believes Asana and Pranayama breath is the bridge.

She is always paying special attention to environmental issues, animal activism and mental health; 'all this must end', she says, 'we must commit to stand together'.

Working in nature with fungi for cancer remedies, turkey tail mushrooms and lion's mane, she says we treat the whole body, We work with mental, physical, emotional and Spiritual. Tina has been teaching for almost 40 years now and practicing since she was 14 years old. Yoga is her life.
