Reiki is a complementary therapy originating from Japan that works with universal (rei) life force energy (ki). The main benefits of Reiki include deep relaxation and a feeling of inner calm and peace. This in turn can lead to reduced stress and anxiety, increased energy levels and have a positive impact on the body’s ability to heal from stress, injury or illness.
Receiving a Reiki treatment involves lying fully clothed on a comfortable massage table while the practitioner gently places their hands on or just above the body at certain positions determined by the flow of Reiki energy through their hands. There is no pressure, massage or manipulation involved.

Some people experience the energy as heat, tingling or cold sensations or see colours while some people feel nothing at all. However, most people experience a deep sense of relaxation and calm and it is common for people to fall asleep during the treatment.

Treatments can be one off but to get the best results from Reiki a course of 4 or 5 treatments is generally recommended. These treatments would be either an hour or 45 minutes long and can be either weekly or fortnightly.
